ARTIST NOTES: For the past 10 years I have enjoyed the vibrancy of living in Melbourne having spent 12 years in beautiful country Victoria, at the foot of Mt Buller, the snow and High Country. Prior to this, I grew up and lived in Sydney and spent a lot of time on beaches, by the ocean, in the sea and exploring the bush in the Royal National Park south of Sydney. Watching people and the many moods of nature, and the way they interact with each other inspired me greatly to capture these points in time by creating art. Pink Bubbles (and her sister painting Swell Time) reflects my years of living by the sea and my joy of swimming in the ocean and diving with its currents like a fish. Many years by the ocean has given me a love for swimming in the swell and diving. Pink Bubbles is a combination of pink and purple with flashes of gold acrylic paint with plenty of diagonal movement on 300gsm paper. It is framed behind glass with a matt border, ready to hang.

Tonia Sanft

Australian artist

Tonia paints a variety of genres and styles from impressionist landscapes and seascapes and colourful abstracts to contemporary nudes.

She applies colour and texture to capture the sheer beauty of nature, the play of light and its extraordinary colour and movement.

Growing up in Sydney, a large part of Tonia’s leisure time was spent by the ocean, on the beach. She loved spending time idly watching the moods, colours and movement of the waves. Fun times, basking in the sun and swimming at beaches, such as Era Beach, a remote, little beach in the Royal National Park, and at Sydney beaches, Cronulla, Bondi, and Coogee. It was here where her beach and ocean inspiration developed.

Recently living in Melbourne, she is drawn to the beauty of the beaches of Port Phillip Bay, and the back beaches of the Mornington Peninsula.
