ARTIST BIO

I studied fine arts at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and have been working as an artist, designer, teacher and illustrator for the past 30 years. In 2011 I turned to painting full time. My art can be found in private and public collections in Australia and abroad.

I currently work from my home studio in Montmorency, Melbourne.

About my work:

I love colour and the process of making marks. My paintings are often meditative, a jazzzy jamming of of marks with no prior intention. I enjoy the element of surprise. But I am also a storyteller and there is usually an inevitable narrative element to my work. Somehow, despite my best intentions, characters and situations find their way throught he layers of paint or ink or clay, sometimes to whisper, sometimes to shout, often mischievious, sometimes recognizable, always welcomed.
