ARTIST NOTES: I cared for this currawong from when he was abandoned until release. A week before release, in juvenile colours, he was quietly standing on a perch contemplating the world from our aviary, learning. The scratchboard was worked in several layers, gradually lightening and adding ink to shade and colour.

ARTIST BIO

My love for art and nature have led me to watercolour painting, graphite drawing and scratchboard as well as caring for wildlife, mainly birds and macropods, in the Canberra region. Courses I have enjoyed include:a semester of drawing (in the Fine Arts department at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA), Sumi-e painting (Andre Sollier), Watercolour painting (20+ years - Noel Ford and Lesley Wallington), Scratchboard (Rikki Fisher).
